A Voyage Through Planned Motherhood

two moms having kids, foster children, lesbian adoption, lesbian parenting

Hello world! February 7, 2006

I have embarked on a journey, a journey that is comprised of peeing on sticks, peestick1.jpgholding them at arms length and trying to determine if line a is as dark blue as line b. That’s right, ovulation kits. My partner and I are trying to have a baby. We began this journey in November of 2005 when I decided that 2006 was the year I start trying to have a child. We went to the fertility clinic, went to the psychologist (required to make sure we are not axe murders) and we have now narrowed down donors to three and chosen one. Our donor sperm arrived at the clinic last thursday and is waiting on a bed of liquid nitrogen, patiently for me to ovulate. I intend on writing here to share, rather document my feelings and thoughts, as I have many. I hope my partner does the same. Actually, seeing as how she is a writer, I hope she writes about it, publishes it and we can in turn help others going through the donor/insemination process. Particularly lesbians trying to conceive, as I feel there is not nearly enough information published on the process. I hope it helps me in the process to clear my head, as well as provide insight to others going through the voyage. Good luck to you all.

  1. Hi, love the idea of your blog. It’s so iimportant that we share our stories with other LGBT people, espeically those considering parenthood and wonderhing where to start.

Why don’t you come on my show and share your story with my listeners? What could be more fun than a discussion about peeing on sticks? Send me a note and let me know if you’re interested.
